All staff know the procedures at snack and lunch time to ensure the safety of children with allergies. However, staff cannot guarantee that foods will not contain traces of nuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sheltonj.derby.sch.uk\/key-information\/policies\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"69\" target=\"_blank\">Allergy Awareness Policy<\/a> provides further information on the steps we take to keep all our children safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Packed Lunches<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We ask that all parents provide &#8220;nut-free&#8221; lunches.  This means we ask that no item with a nut listed in bold as an allergen on an items ingredients list is brought into school. Items that say &#8220;<em>may contain traces &#8230;<\/em>&#8221; are permissible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sheltonj.derby.sch.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Allergens1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8508\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the word Peanuts is in bold in the item above, this would not be suitable to bring to school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sheltonj.derby.sch.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Allergens2-1-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8510\" width=\"434\" height=\"210\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, this cereal bar is permissable, as it states it may contain nuts, but nuts are not identified in bold letters in the ingredients.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Snack time food and packed lunches are monitored by staff and foods given by school are peanut, nut free and other allergens free depending on the children attending.
