School council

School Council work hard to make Shelton Junior School a happy place to be!

Every class elects two representatives to sit on the School Council. We meet every two weeks on a Tuesday afternoon to discuss ideas, listen to feedback from classes, and plan how to make Shelton even better.

Speaking up for what matters

School Council members run elections, take part in fundraising, plan whole-school events and meet with the headteacher and governors. It’s a brilliant way to develop confidence, leadership and democratic values.

What we do

  • Listen to ideas from every class and bring them to our meetings.
  • Help to choose charities to support during the year.
  • Plan school events such as non-uniform days, talent shows and themed weeks.
  • Speak with senior leaders and governors about pupil priorities.
  • Help make Shelton a happy, safe and welcoming place for everyone.

Check the noticeboard outside the hall for our latest minutes and news.
